Because of a trip to Europe, I missed most of the Minnesota State Fair. Ironic given I had been planning to go there at least 3 or 4 four times. Maybe next year. I did manage to spent a few hours there on Friday, and got a few photos. Stay tuned.

Rarely have I seen such a dense rain pattern on a lake, not to mention a fisherman on shore next to it. There was a fair amount of lightning in the area too. Guess we all take our chances, including the photographer.

Life during the days of fur trading was tough in almost every way. All the comforts of life we take for granted, ranging from air conditioning to running water didn’t exist. Somehow though this cabin at Forts Folle Avoine had a feeling of comfortableness about it. Easy to imagine a warm fireplace, hot stew for dinner, some spirits to finish, and good company.

Southern Pacific 4449 all steamed up and ready to go. It left the station in Northeast Minneapolis at 8:00 am 18 July, destination Chicago. Once it left the station, I got ahead of it and got a few more shots as it was passing the Jackson Street Roundhouse.
