Aquatennial Fireworks

These didn’t turn out as I had hoped. For one thing the launching point appears to not have been from the 3rd Avenue bridge, putting all the fireworks in front of a brightly light building, and the lack of any breeze caused the smoke to hang around forever. I also used in-camera noise reduction, which essentially disables the camera for the same amount of time after each shot as the shot was long in the first place. Next time I’m going to pluck myself down on the Stone Arch bridge early evening and sweat in the sun with the rest of them, and have some fun.

4th of July

Some practice shots for the Aquatennial fireworks later this summer. Taken with my kit 75-300 mm lens, ISO 100, F11, 3-4 seconds. Wonder what they would look like with an L-series zoom, my current wanna have. As usual the mosquitos were out in force. Click on pictures for full view.

Fireworks Anyone ?

With fireworks season approaching rapidly, anyone wanting to chime in with tips have at it. This one was taken back in 2003. Taking pictures of fireworks is fairly tricky. More on my experiences later. For starters 4th July fireworks normally suck as far as uuh aah (hint) is concerned.
