ligthbeams

Let’s see, first I called it Light Beams, then Herring Lights, and finally Guiding Lights. What comes to your mind when you first look at it, and after second and third thought?

Taken a while back while on a business trip in Cincinnati. From what I recall this leads into the Pillsbury building.

On another note, we hit 90 degrees today! Guess my prediction of 2 weeks of spring followed by summer was correct, though for Minnesota that’s a slam dunk. Trotting around in -30 wind chills seems like such a distant memory. Memorial day just around the corner, as is the first trip up to our camper. I am so ready for a break. This year I’m going to make the most of it, photographically speaking. A few hours north of our camper some truly spectacular scenery exists, just have to make the drive from base camp. Tag you’re it :)

rustybridge

One the overhead suspension cable casings in the John A. Roebling Suspension Bridge in Cincinnati. As bad as the flaking paint looks, the underlying steel is pretty solid. Just needs a new paint job. Maybe there’ll be some stimulus painting. Till then it will present some interesting photo ops.

The John A. Roebling suspension bridge across the Ohio River was completed in 1866. At the time it was the longest suspension bridge in the world. Still impressive.

taftmuseum1

During my recent visit to Cincinnati, I had a couple of hours to explore the riverfront area. On the way back to my parked rental car, I came across the Taft Museum. As I was thirsty and they advertised a Cafe, I went in looking for a pop. Turns out the Cafe was closed, but while there I took a quick walk through the place. Museum isn’t really that big, but the art work is impressive. The painting on the near left ‘is a Rembrandt’, as proudly noted by one of the museum guides.

On a trip out east this week, I managed to get some time in downtown Cincinnati on the way to the hotel. Actually quite a picturesque. Reminds me of Minneapolis. This is the Proctor and Gamble building.
