Graffiti Rail Road

graffitirailroad

I intended to go out and get some shots of a particular flowering tree, but it was so windy today that would have been an exercise in futility. So instead I took a drive in the Northeast Art District. There was quite a bit of activity around the few bars in the area, some festival going on, so I took some side streets to avoid the traffic jams. Spotted this railroad bridge across Mississippi and intended to get some shots of the bridge, but instead found it’s base decorated with graffiti.

I’m surprised at the letter reversal to disguise the swear phrase. But then they did something similar on Battlestar Galactica. Apparently it’s acceptable on TV to disguise swear phrases by substituting a couple of letters, so I guess we could consider the graffiti swearing socially acceptable.

This was fun. Didn’t even bump my head. The brake lines look like they’re shaking hands.

Sunset Tree

Spring has finally arrived in Minnesota. Lawns are greening, trees are budding, birds are flirting. You can see it in the sky too. Clouds are beginning to look like they have some real moisture waiting to come down as rain, the air feels a bit humid, and unfortunately allergies are acting up for some.

Temps are going to be in the 80s today, and we’re supposed to get some thunderstorms this weekend. First of the season. I’m looking forward to it, though now I probably won’t be able to undertake another major vehicle maintenance challenge. After last weekend’s success (saving myself $500 now confirmed after getting a quote), I’m ready for another automobile repair challenge, like tackling that little leak in my truck’s transmission cooling line that apparently costs $100s to fix because ‘you have to remove many unrelated parts to get at it’. I have some ideas.
