Dropkick Murphys At The Irish Fest
The Irish Fair was held August 7-9 at Harriet Island. Loaded with performances, food, and exhibits of all sorts, all based on Irish themes, its one of the most fun events our short summers here in Minnesota feature. The band in this photo is Dropkick Murphy. My layman’s guess of the attending crowd is a few thousand. There was some body surfing going on. Haven’t seen that for a while.

You were BEHIND the stage…..awesome perspective. I am standing back to the left of the sound mixing tent. Using my camera then to try and catch the band was nearly impossible.
You really nailed this one. :-)

Nice creative angle on this shot! That’s not a typical photo of a concert. Very sweet.
What I can’t understand is why all those Swedes and dumb Norskies go to hear an Irish band? Have some Irish folks actually moved to the Twin Cities since I lived there?
;-))

The Irish Fair must have been awesome!! Our former neighbors were certainly there!

Yep behind the stage Dan. In front seemed just a bit to crowded, and a shot from there would have been difficult.
Jacob, haven’t you ever heard the saying that downtown St. Paul was built by drunken Irish, hence the odd angles of many street intersections?
Leif, yes it was awesome. Especially liked the Irish stew :) Unfortunately my truck parked nearby was broken into. Lost a lot of camera gear and lenses. Nothing super expensive, but it adds up to over $1200, and looks like insurance deductible is gonna make me eat most of that. Ah well …

Jeez, Snapshutter…so sorry about your camera gear! That would devastate me!

We don;t typically view a behind the stage scene. Coll idea. Bummer about your camera gear, that sucks.

Wow, really cool shot. So sorry to hear about all your gear, though. Were it me, I’d use it as an excuse to get me a fancy new camera : )
