I like the bold colors and of course the subject is one I always enjoy. This is an excellent composition.
You had asked me about photographing things on a mirror. I’m not sure I can offer too much advice other than to say it is really all about the angle. It also helps to make sure that there is nothing distracting above the mirror and subject of the composition that will reflect in it as well. Any white board that you can place above it even at an angle will work. I use a light tent so that makes it easier. The light tent also helps to control the glare reflections from your light sources. You can use white sheets to diffuse the light…my light tent is made from white bed sheets sewn around a PVC frame.
Some objects work better than others and I think minimalism is also key to make the shot effective. I use the technique often when shooting jewelry. My best advice is just to keep trying and experimenting. Oh and make sure you have a large enough mirror and a lens that can get in tight enough to keep the edges of the mirror out of the shots. I often use a macro lens…but if that is not possible, you can always crop the image.

Cool colors! I should have borrowed your tripod for at least one attempt at an HDR at the Roundhouse.
