Coach In Decay

coachindecay2

Another one from our train museum outing. This coach is normally not on the typical visitor’s list of things to see. It’s in the cue to be restored, though likely only the steel frame underneath is salvageable. It may look ugly to most, but to me it’s a beauty, full of shapes and hues, and a long history to boot.

The photo was difficult to line up, trying to figure out which is the vertical. I finally decided the door at the end is what should be vertical. Still looks tilted to me, but if you line up a ruler with the right door frame you’ll see it’s vertical, or at least as close as I could get it. Our mind is so easily tricked when it comes to visuals.

Very cool and mysterious shot! It almost looks like a person standing at the end with one arm stretched up to the sky.

Beautifully rendered. You’re right, you captured a lot of hues and shapes in your picture. Finding a place to safely stand must have been difficult. This coach not only looks in decay, it looks as if it were transported from the burned out wreckage of Berlin after the Second World War.

this photo is very interesting. the lighting and effect is perfect for this shot. Also, I am glad you enjoyed the kachina on my site. You really would enjoy visiting some of the areas in Arizona when you get back here some day. There is a lot to see and you can only take in so much when visiting to Arizona.

Wow this is real neat. I am sure the phrase Beauty is in the eye of the beholder is your theme for the post. :)

I love old things that have seen better days, especially if there is a chance that they can be retored. History is often written in the little details of a broken roof, of tattered, grimed curtains waving in the breeze of an open window…
    I like your post.

Great shot! I can’t believe how banged up it is and it will be wonderful (some day) to see how it looks restored.

I think what multiplies this visual awkwardness is that the right wall is bowing out at the top.

it looks so eerie but the picture is beautifully done.
