S 550

Symmetry

I’ve attempted this shot in the past and wasn’t happy with the results, but this time I got something I’m OK with. Lighting is still a bit uneven, but not so much as in past shots. Also this is in fact an HDR image compiled from several exposures. At least I think it is. I’m still learning, well more like fumbling, my way through this software, and I can’t quite tell whether it actually worked. For some very nice HDR photos check Gbenz’ssite.

The place itself is quite impressive, especially the acoustics. Even the slightest sound seems to reverberate for a long time. I don’t think you would hear a pin drop from a distance, but its pretty close to that. Understandable since all that rock just bounces sounds off with no adsorption. I once heard that during studio recordings the drummer of Genesis was playing in a granite lined room to add sharpness to the sound of the drums, but I can’t find anything on google to confirm.

Views From The Foshay Tower

OK, we beaten this subject pretty much to death. It’s been a fun week of posting, and be sure to visit Roaming’s, Dusty’s, and Mitchster’s (once he gets around to putting up some photos) sites for some great shots of our outing. Myself have a few odds and ends shots left, plus some from our stroll around downtown, which are up next.

Foshay Overshadowed

Or is it overlighted? I seem to have a lot of photos showing the Foshay Tower being either dwarfed or overshadowed by other structures.
