Crayon Train
by snapshutter on Jun.22, 2008, under Abstract
Thought I’d try something a bit abstract. Just play with the curves for both red, green, and blue until I got something that looked sorta good. For some real artwork in colorization check these photos. Just awesome.
This locomotive is located in Procter, just south of Duluth. Was at our camper just south of Duluth, and decided to drive up there Saturday morning to look at the locomotive on display. Just so happened Grandma’s Marathon was going on, plus an accident, so traffic in Duluth was a bit backed up. But that gave me a good chance to look at the sights along the freeway. There sure are a lot of interesting things up there. Next time I’ll spend a whole day up there instead of a few hours.
First Model Shoot
by snapshutter on Jun.14, 2008, under People
I went on a model shoot for the first time, down at Centenial Lakes Park. Neither the organizer nor the two models scheduled showed up. I guess models are notorious for not showing up. Not sure I blame them for $20/hr. The organizer must have had a good reason for not being there.
Didn’t matter much though. We found an elderly couple willing to pose for us on a bench, and a family in another setting. Better yet, one of the photographer’s wife is an amateur model, and she kindly posed for us for almost an hour. Got lots of shots of her. I particularly like this one. Lovely.
Only fly on the ointment was a pushy power walker that shoved me from behind. Don’t think he’s fond of photographers.
Boston
by snapshutter on Jun.06, 2008, under Travel
This picture was taken at the Legal Sea Foods in Boston Massachusetts, down at Long WHRF. It has to be one of the finest seafood restaurants in Boston. Legal seafoods is a chain of restaurants, however there seems to be a large spread in the quality of the food between different restaurants. This one is on the top, at least that was our consensus, plus the place is buzzing with activity, probably because of its location. Call well ahead for dinner reservations in the dining area, else settle for a 1 hr wait to be seated in the bar area, which also serves food. Oddly enough, Mapquest and the restaurant’s business card list the address as 255 State Street, which is a few blocks away. The actual location is in on Central WHRF, just across from the cruise boat docks. There’s a large parking ramp just down the block. Expect to pay $30-$40 for a couple of hours. You can also get there by train (Aquarium Station).
The guy on the left is Rick, one of the waiters, and his apprentice. Rick is from Marocco. We met him on a previous trip, and we were impressed by his attentiveness. When we went back we ended up with a different waiter (waitress actually), but we asked for him just to say hello. He kindly offered an appetizer on the house, for which we selected ‘Steamers’.
We hope to see you next time we’re in town. If you decide to move on, good luck Rick.
