Kalaloch

by snapshutter on May.27, 2008, under Travel

This photo was taken on a Vacation a few years back. Very long drive. First leg Minneapolis to Butt Montana, second leg to Olympic National Park in Washington. A truly amazing place. There are several campgrounds in the park, Kalaloch being one of them, right on the beach. In the morning thick banks of fog roll through the campground, and it’s actually quite easy to get a shot like this. The park gets so much rain during the winter season there is actually a rain forest, the only one in the USA.

Having the sun from the back provides a nice see through effect showing the delicate structure of the bells. Note the nice bokeh in the background from the wide aperture setting on my new 17-40mm f/4L USM Canon lens.

Turned around and on the way back I pulled of onto a dirt road just for the heck of it. Found this lovely Minnesota swamp of the side of the road just as the sun was breaking out.
